I LOVE OG #001

DETAILS

This jinbei is crafted using Japanese hemp fabric, meticulously created by a skilled artisan with over 45 years of experience in textile making. By weaving thicker threads into traditional plain weave fabric, it achieves a unique textured finish. This texture reduces the contact area with the skin, minimizing stickiness and enhancing comfort, making it perfect for staying cool during hot summer days.

Jinbei is a traditional Japanese garment deeply connected to summer life in Japan. Historically used as casual indoor wear or as lightweight attire for festivals, its origins trace back to the Edo period, evolving from simple indoor clothing for samurai and workwear for commoners. PokeOG’s jinbei reimagines this classic garment by blending traditional design with modern sensibilities and a focus on sustainability, using natural materials to create a fresh, contemporary piece.

This jinbei honors Japanese craftsmanship and tradition while maximizing the functionality and comfort of hemp. It's more than just a way to stay comfortable during the summer—it’s a wearable homage to Japanese culture.

INSPIRE

The founder of PokeOG has been deeply influenced by Japanese history and culture, particularly the traditions of martial arts, having practiced kendo and iaido from a young age. While their love for New York led to the decision to move there, the experience of living in the city made them realize that no matter how much they embraced New York, their identity as Japanese remained central. This realization sparked a desire to incorporate more Japanese culture into their lifestyle, leading to the decision to adopt jinbei as a fashion statement.

New York, as a city celebrated for its diversity, introduced the founder to many people who expressed deep respect for Japanese culture. These encounters reinforced the value and beauty of Japanese traditions and instilled a sense of responsibility to preserve and share them. However, the founder became increasingly concerned about the decline of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, including the making of jinbei. Recognizing the need to address this, they launched PokeOG to advocate for and revitalize these cultural treasures. Currently, PokeOG focuses on creating jinbei made with Japanese hemp, showcasing the artistry of skilled craftsmen and the quality of natural materials.

Looking ahead, the founder hopes to collaborate with Japanese brands and artisans specializing in jinbei to create pieces that highlight the rich heritage of traditional techniques. Through these efforts, PokeOG aims to preserve and pass on Japanese culture to future generations while sharing its timeless value with the world.
