Ganja Bonsai Sake Cup 03

Story&Details

This small sake cup (guinomi) is inspired by the traditional Karatsu pottery style, known for its natural glaze textures and earthy clay body. The surface shows dark brown and olive-green glaze variations created during firing, forming organic patterns that resemble natural landscapes. The base is stamped “Ko-Karatsu” (古唐津), referring to the classic Karatsu aesthetic rooted in Japanese tea and sake culture. Pieces in this style are typically modern works influenced by historic Karatsu ware and are commonly produced from around the 1980s–2010s. The cup measures roughly 6–7 cm in diameter and about 4–5 cm in height, with a rounded form that sits comfortably in the hand and enhances the experience of drinking sake.
