This small sake cup (guinomi) is made from iron-rich clay and finished with a natural ash-toned glaze that developed during firing. The surface shows warm brown tones with subtle greenish glaze near the rim, while the body retains visible throwing lines from the potter’s wheel, giving the piece a strong handmade character. The slightly flared shape allows aromas to open when drinking sake, and the compact foot provides a stable base in the hand. On the side near the foot there is a small carved signature mark, indicating it is a studio-made piece by an individual potter rather than factory production. Works with this earthy firing style and simple form are commonly associated with Japanese studio pottery from around the 1980s–2010s, reflecting the aesthetic of everyday sake vessels used in Japanese dining culture.
This piece is available at the "Ganja Bonsai Gallery".As many of the works are one of a kind, availability may change.
