Ganja Bonsai Sake Cup 06

Story&Details

This small sake cup (guinomi) features a soft green glaze with a fine crackle pattern across the surface. The crackle effect forms naturally during cooling after firing, creating a network of delicate lines that gives the piece depth and character. Variations of light green, pale beige, and darker mineral tones appear across the body, producing a subtle landscape-like pattern that changes depending on the light. The rounded shape fits comfortably in the hand, while the slightly thick rim helps hold warmth when drinking sake. The interior glaze is deeper green, adding contrast to the exterior tones. Pieces with this type of crackle glaze are commonly associated with modern Japanese studio pottery from around the 1990s–2010s, where potters focused on expressive glaze surfaces and functional forms used in everyday Japanese drinking culture.
